Each month we will be highlighting a #MashoftheMonth, this will focus on a tool or application and how it can be used within the classroom to support learning across the curriculum. During the month, if you share how you have used #MashoftheMonth, you will then be entered into a draw to win a 2Simple Goody Bag!
The Mash of the Month for February is Table Toons, as it's just had a fantastic upgrade!
The new and improved Table Toons is now available on Purple Mash in the games section.
The fresh new design showcases the characters and their songs which help children acquire multiplication facts through music and images.
All the favourite characters from the original game are still here, bringing their signature styles to the multiplication stage. However, one familiar face - Robot Singer - has officially retired! But don’t worry, a new musical maestro has stepped in to fill the gap… none other than Cody, the Purple Mash mashcot! Cody is ready to bring excitement and energy to multiplication learning.
The new version of Table Toons also introduces customisable animated fun blobs. These lively, colourful characters provide pictorial representations of multiplication facts as arrays, helping children connect numbers to visuals for deeper understanding.
Designed to support multiplication fluency in the Primary classroom, Table Toons makes learning both effective and enjoyable, and the best part is... it's part of a Purple Mash subscription, which you can try for free!
Times tables are essential for success in maths, but memorising them can feel like a challenge. Table Toons helps children develop their multiplication recall by:
✅ Listening to times tables set to different music styles – rock, opera, rap, and more!
✅ Seeing the multiplication facts represented with animated pictorial arrays (or 'blobs' 😜) for visual learning.
✅ Creating their own personalised multiplication playlists, making learning interactive.
✅ Playing themed games to reinforce learning, either in sequence or randomly.
Create: Here, children can create their own multiplication song! Choose the times tables you want to create a song for, then choose the song style for each question in that table. Children can also choose the 'blob' style and array layout.
Listen: Choose a times table to listen to, and while it plays you can change the song style, 'blob' style and array layout.
Games: Children can choose to answer times tables questions in sequence or in random order, and can choose how long they given themselves for each question - they can even choose 'No Limit'. After answering each question, that times table calculation is sung to them.
As an example, a child could choose the 6 times tables with each calculation having a different music style, creating their own 6 times tables song. Then, they can listen to the song, and finally, play a 6 times tables game - either with the questions in order or randomly for more of a challenge!

In March, Year 3 and Year 5 students will take part in NAPLAN. With its mix of music, games and visual learning, Table Toons is an ideal tool for supporting children for the numeracy NAPLAN assessment. Why not use Table Toons to practise, and then try it out with our Multiplication Tables Check tool?
Table Toons is a great assessment companion, helping children develop maths fluency. By making practice fun, engaging, and memorable, it helps boost recall and confidence!
All of these tools, games and resources are included in a Purple Mash subscription, which you can try for free.
