There are many ways that our Professional Development team can support you in making the most of Purple Mash to support remote and home learning. Our PD is a great way to kickstart effective use of technology across the whole curriculum – and it can even be taken during lockdown!
Online PD Session
Online PD Sessions can be booked at a time convenient to you and your colleagues. This will help your whole school get the most out of our resources with a bespoke session, delivered by one of our experienced educational consultants. The consultant will happily tailor the session to suit your needs. Training can take place online, at a time to suit you and your staff, the session can also be recorded which gives you an added benefit, as staff will be able to watch it back and remind yourselves of key points/features.
Two schools who have recently received online training gave us this feedback:
The staff in our school have just completed an online session, we had 42 members of staff join us to complete the training. It was excellent, our trainer talked us through all the areas on Purple Mash and then allowed us time to try the areas so we could see how it would work with our own classes and age groups. I would definitely recommend having an online session with your staff as it's very hands on and a great opportunity to ask questions as you learn. E Salisbury Ysgol Llandrillo yn Rhos
We had identified as a school that we wanted Purple Mash training on how to deliver the computing curriculum, and also to introduce some staff who were new to Purple Mash to everything it has to offer. We decided to go ahead with online training rather than wait until we are back at school in case we might be able to use it to support home learning while school is closed as well as putting it to better use when we are back at school. The training session we received definitely achieved this!
There is far more to Purple Mash than any of us realised, and it has hugely enhanced how we are providing home learning for our children during lockdown. I have had several enthusiastic emails from staff since the training telling me they have been sharing learning with their classes through Purple Mash already. The trainer explained everything really clearly and showed us everything from how to inform parents of how their children would be able to log on, to how to set tasks and give feedback to children once they had completed them. We are putting it to use now and will be continuing to do so when back in school.
I also asked the trainer at quite short notice whether we would be able to look at Mini Mash during the session as we had some nursery/foundation stage staff who wanted to attend the online session. They were really pleased with what they were shown and have since all been exploring how they are going to use Mini Mash with their children, which is something they have not done before. We have a series of webinars running over the next couple of weeks for both teachers and parents. These webinars are 30 minutes long, they are free. You can see the full range of webinars and register for them here.
You can also access other webinars we've ever recorded as well as dozens of short tutorial videos on our YouTube channel or the inclusive teacher blog or parent blog within Purple Mash. If there are any webinars that you would like to have available in the future, then please let us know.
Teachers can also use our online training platform, the platform currently has 12 different courses, with more being added over the next few weeks. The courses are self-paced, and teachers can undertake the courses at anytime and anywhere, they are designed to support teachers in using Purple Mash and to enable them to maximise how they use Purple Mash to support learning. The courses are short and focused and include links to extra support and notes, with quiz questions used to assess and reinforce learning.
Connect sessions are a free 1-1 phone call or screen share with a member of our PD team.
