Weekly activities, Webinars and Blogs - Support for Remote Learning

May 15, 2020

Weekly activities

We have updated our weekly activities for this week and expanded the age ranges, to include activities for our youngest learners. Next week is week 9 although you can, of course, go back and use any of the activities from previous weeks.

The weekly activities are now grouped into the following age ranges:

  • 3 to 5
  • 5 to 7
  • 7 to 9
  • 9 to 11

Each age range has a weekly instruction sheet, this details the activities for each day, explaining the tasks for that day as well as introducing the text from Serial Mash (where appropriate) and the topics to be covered each day. There is also a Fun Friday activity each week, that the whole family can join in.

The daily activities all follow the same format with a reading, comprehension, maths, writing and an inquiry topic activity, to support home/remote learning, children can then click on the day and all the activities are listed for them. Teachers and Parents can then use these with their children each day to support home learning.

We have also added some help videos for children these cover accessing 2Dos, saving work and blogs.

We have a series of webinars running next couple week for both teachers and parents. These webinars are 30 minutes long, they are free and will cover some of the following topics: Using Purple Mash to support foundation subjects, Keeping up with Maths skills and Writing and Storytelling. Please note these webinars are run by our UK Team and therefore the times are not quite fitting with times here, however, anyone registered with a webinar will receive a recording of the session to watch at a more suitable time.

We also have our first Q and A webinar on making the most of Purple Mash. If you have a question, please submit it via cpd@2simple.com and we will include as many of these as possible in the webinar. We hope to answer some questions on the live broadcast, but if you do submit a question during the webinar that we don’t have time to answer, we will follow up with you after the broadcast.

You can see the full range of webinars and register for them here and you can also access other webinars we've ever recorded as well as dozens of short tutorial videos on our YouTube channel.

As well as this blog that you are using we also have two blogs within Purple Mash that are updated daily and cover a range of topics and ideas for using Purple Mash in school, both have been created by our Professional Development Team.

The Parent’s Blog includes a range of posts including video guides for parents to enable them to use Purple mash fully for home learning. Posts include how to share work, guides to tools, and ideas of activities to complete with children.

The Teacher blog aims to provide top tips, advice and inspiration for using Purple Mash remotely, there is a daily post and posts include how to add a video lesson starter, creating a quiz and creating simple ebooks.
