Feb. 7, 2023

The 2023 Women’s ICC T20 World Cup begins on 10th February and will be the eighth edition of the tournament. It will be held in South Africa and runs until 26th February.

We’ve rounded up some resources so you don’t have to, ahem, Googly them 😉.

Purple Mash

The writing opportunities for a sporting event of this size are endless. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Research and write a fact file on some of the team members
  • Imagine you are one of the cricket players and write a diary entry from their point of view
  • Follow the tournament and write a sports newspaper report on the gameplay
  • Write an information text about cricket itself
  • Write a blog for each match, keeping the whole school updated on the results

Other subjects

In science, you could investigate how different balls move and investigate forces in action or investigate the link between leg length and how many runs can be scored in a certain amount of time.  Use our Fair Test booklet to plan a fair test.

For a fun music lesson, play your class this classic song and see if they can create a new cricket-themed song, or a song with a Reggae feel.

In geography, your class can research the countries playing and compare their physical features. Or look at the stadium localities - how does Capetown, Gqerberha or Paarl compare to your local area?
