We’re incredibly excited to announce that Bett 2020 will be hosting both the first national #EduFootyAid all-regions tournament and the first all-female game!
We launched #EduFootyAid in 2018 in memory of our friend colleague Jonny Zucker, who tragically took his own life. Today, there are more than 200 teachers registered to play across the country, and the games have raised over £10,000 to support Mind. Every teacher in the UK can join their local #EduFootyAid squad for free and we organise testimonial style games between the regions.
Community building, exercise, and constructive outlets for stress are three key elements of positive wellbeing, and football combines these wonderfully; It truly is the beautiful game. There’s no great science at play, it’s simply about bringing teachers together, getting the blood pumping, and then enjoying a well-earned social session after the final whistle. To quote a player from the most recent match in the North East, “I haven’t had the easiest of times recently, and I just really needed today.”
#EduFootyAid @ Bett 2020 will be taking place in the Excel Arena Hall S14 on Saturday January 25th between 11am and 12:30pm. Six teams will be competing in a world cup style tournament, including a team made-up of EdTech suppliers! The headline event will be the first all-female game which will take place at 1:50pm. The winners of both will then receive their trophies on the Bett arena main stage. All the players are using the event to fundraise for Mind, and you can donate via JustGiving. This is going to be the first time Bett has hosted an event like this and we’d love for you to be there and help cheer on all the teachers taking part.
If you're new to #EduFootyAid you need to register as a player first, which you can do here. Once you've done that hit the button below to sign-up for this event. Team squads are only 6 players and spaces are limited, priority will be given to players who have taken part in previous fixtures.
