At 2Simple we already have trained Mental Health First Aiders that our staff can speak to if they are concerned about their mental health. But we also wanted to do more to actively promote positive wellbeing. And that’s why we’re pleased to introduce you to our new wellbeing team!
Their role is to strengthen the sense community in the office and make sure every member of staff feels happy and valued. There will be lots going on each term including social events, team lunches, and charity fundraisers.
Our first fundraising event is for a charity very close to our hearts. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is a muscle wasting disease which affects children, and there is currently no known cure. The life expectancy for people with DMD is 26 and there are over 2,500 patients in the UK alone. Alban Squires is a member of our Internal Wellbeing team, he worked as a primary school teacher in Croydon for many years before joining 2Simple. Alban’s son was recently diagnosed with DMD, and that is why we’ve chosen to raise money for Duchenne UK this term. Find out more on our JustGiving page.
The internal Wellbeing team is just one aspect of our new 2Simple Wellbeing department. We have launched a range of resources and initiatives for schools, you can find out more here.
