The start of submissions for our exciting new book series ‘Top 10s’ is just around the corner!
Through Top 10s, children will be brought together with a team of expert brainiacs, hilarious authors, and awe-inspiring illustrators, to turn their ideas into a colourful and engaging book, with both print and digital copies created. The books will be packed full of interesting info, fun facts, and silly jokes, with links to cool and creative online Purple Mash projects. No more stuffy adults telling children what to read, we’re letting the kids decide!
To help you get started, I’ve included a few of my own Top 10 lists below! Take a look and see what you think...
Here's a little look into why I think my list of Top 10 Delicious Desserts can’t be beat:
1. Chocolate Chip Cookies – Whether you like them soft and chewy or crispy and crunchy, there's nothing better than a chocolate chip cookie – the ruler of sweet treats!
2. Brownies – A warm chocolate brownie is an all timer when it comes to delicious desserts .
3. Ice Cream - A cold ice cream on a hot day is my favourite way to enjoy this dessert.
4. Birthday Cake – A slice of cake is delicious on its own, but getting cake on your birthday makes it that bit sweeter!
5. Apple Crumble – A crunchy crust and a fruity filling make this dessert a definite Top 10.
6. Jelly – A dessert with a bit of fun, wobbly jelly is a favourite.
7. Scones – A British classic and made extra delicious with jam and cream, a scone is what makes an afternoon tea!
8. Chocolate Mousse – Smooth and chocolatey mousse is sure to be a favourite of all chocolate lovers.
9. Fruit Salad – Its healthy, its sweet, and you can customize it by adding all your different favourite fruits!
10. Doughnuts – Fried and delicious with a range of different toppings and fillings. What’s not to like?
Disagree with my ratings? Delicious Desserts could be one of your submitted Top 10s – as could anything else you can think of!
Now that you’ve seen my Top 10s, it’s time to start thinking about what topic you’d choose. What would make your list? Get ready - our first round of submissions opens soon! Here's some info on what to expect from our Top 10s Project...
Top 10s can be based on whatever children can dream up! From Top 10 Amazing Animals, to Top 10 Best Books, they'll have the chance to add an idea they think would make a book themselves and others would want to read.
After all the ideas have been submitted, children will get to vote on a shortlist of finalists. Together, they will pick their winner using Purple Mash’s in-built polling tool, 2Survey.
Once a winning topic is chosen, we’ll get the production process started!
To top it all off, after a theme is selected, the children will get to author and illustrate their own version of the chosen Top 10s topic, submitting them to be included in the final book, with several lucky winners having their list printed!
We can’t wait to get to work on bringing some brilliant ideas to life, and we’re excited to see what you come up with!
