World Book Day - Serial Mash

Feb. 24, 2020

On 5th March, it’s World Book Day, a day of encouragement for children of all ages to come together to appreciate reading whilst celebrating the work of authors, illustrators and books. It’s the biggest celebration of its kind, marked in over 100 countries in the world and now into its 23rd year.

Serial Mash is an add-on to Purple Mash and has a library of over 100 books with 18 new books added each year. It has many wonderful features to celebrate and ignite a pleasure for reading.

Jan. 20, 2020

Children's Mental Health Week is run by children's mental health charity Place2Be, the theme this year is Find your Brave. Bravery comes in all shapes and sizes and is different for everyone, it can be about sharing your worries and asking for help, trying something new or pushing yourself outside your comfort zone. Being 'brave' can build your confidence, self-esteem and make you feel good about yourself.

International day of women and girls in science - February 11th 2020

Jan. 6, 2020

In 2016, the UN declared 11 February as International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The main reason for this declaration was to encourage more girls and women to take up jobs in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (also known as the STEM subjects). Figures show that although there's no significant difference in ability between boys and girls in maths and science, less than 35 per cent of graduates in STEM subjects worldwide are women and there are even fewer in engineering and information technology.
