Dot Com Digital is an enhanced digital version of the Dot Com safeguarding programme which has been developed by children with Essex Police, the National Police Chief Council, Internet Intelligence and Investigations and safeguarding leads.
Some of our favourite things about Dot Com Digital:
Dot Com or 'Dot' is a cartoon friend to children that talks to them in their own language and helps them learn how to speak up about issues which frighten or worry them.
Created with Essex Police and the National Police Chief Council Lead for Internet Intelligence and Investigations.
Children can ask for a 'Dot Minute' if they're feeling worried or afraid by something. Teachers can also request a 'Dot Minute' from a child. This keeps both pupil and teacher safe.
The free version will include five themes, including: Feeling Safe, Recognising Personal Warning Signs, Grooming, Knife Crime and County Lines. There’s no limit for schools to use this resource, and it’ll be updated to reflect current issues reported by children and the police.
Schools will be able to choose to upgrade to a paid digital license once available. It will house over 24 themes which will enable a school to fulfil a rich PSHE curriculum across all years including flexibility of teaching and will have additional enhanced features.
Dot Com Children's Foundation is a small charity which empowers children to make safer choices in life through the Values Versus Violence programme. The programme is taught in schools by teaching staff and supported by the police and Home Office.
