Each month we will be highlighting a #MashoftheMonth, this will focus on a tool or application within Purple Mash and how it can be used within the classroom to support learning across the curriculum. During the month, if you share how you have used #MashoftheMonth, you will then be entered into a draw to win a 2Simple Goody Bag!
This month's Mash of the Month is 2BeSafe, Purple Mash's Online Safety Scheme of Work. 2BeSafe contains 15-20 minute sessions, designed to be flexible and fit around teachers' busy timetables. The sessions are all aligned to the Education for a Connected World Framework.
2BeSafe covers each of the strands from the Education for a Connected World framework. 2BeSafe offers a comprehensive coverage of these requirements for primary schools starting from Reception up to Year 6.
The sessions are organised by year group and topic, with each topic having 15-20 minute sessions containing a teaching PowerPoint and activities.
The sessions are designed to be able to be used without individual devices, so are perfect to flexibly fit into the timetable where you can, and are designed to promote discussion, greater thinking and deeper reflection in order to raise the profile of the importance of staying safe online.
To support teachers, there is a Teacher Guide, the Education for a Connected World document, a document to show where 2BeSafe links to the RSE curriculum, and printable icons to create a display.
There are also printable and online mind maps for every topic for each year group that can be used for assessment purposes. They would also make a lovely display!
Purple Mash subscribers can access all of the sessions in the Teachers Area as part of their subscription, but seven sessions are included in our FREE downloadable Online Safety Pack:
