Purple Mash has teamed up with The Fruities and Veggies™ to bring you a very exciting competition this January! Your students will be tasked with designing a house for one of The Fruities and Veggies™ - with lots of pear-fect prizes to be won, you don't want to miss it. Read the blog to find out more.

Who are The Fruities and Veggies™?

The Fruities and Veggies™ are a bunch of 12 delicious characters that you will find in your local One Stop. They're on a mission to help teach children that healthy eating can be as cool as a cucumber.

What is The Fruities and Veggies™ Competition?

This a-peel-ing competition is a chance for your students to go bananas with their creativity and design a house for one of the characters. There are three age categories, each with their own character to design for:

Under 5s: Arthur Apple

Under 7s: Betty Beetroot

Under 12s: Pete Potato

Will they design a cosy den, a colourful cottage, or a treetop escape? The possibilities are endless! You can find more information on each character by clicking on their image - this may help children come up with some initial ideas for their dream house.

Who can enter The Fruities and Veggies™ Competition?

This apple-solutely amazing competition is open to children aged 5-12, and additionally any children up to the age of 18 who attend SEND provision or have additional needs.

Purple Mash subscribers will already have access to the competition area including the 2Paint a Picture tool, competition guides and Display Boards for submission.

How to enter The Design a House for The Fruities and Veggies™ Competition

All your students need to do is use the 2Paint a Picture template on Purple Mash to design a house for the character for their age range. These designs can be started at any time, but can only be submitted to the display boards between 20th January and 5pm(GMT) 7th March 2025.

Children can edit and refine their design as much as they like before submitting, and can only submit one design.

Tips for Entering The Design a House for The The Fruities and Veggies™ Competition

• Think about your character's personality. What would Arthur Apple love outside his house? Would Betty Beetroot want a vibrant garden? What colour would Pete Potato want his house to be?
• Be as creative as you can! What fun features would make your character's house unique?
• Your design must be original - we want to see your amazing ideas!
