What we do

2 Simple’s CSR project 2econd Chance, collects redundant devices from schools, businesses, and individuals to reduce e-waste, bridge the digital divide, and provide pathways to employment to vulnerable individuals. As a computer recycling charity, 2econd Chance uses donated devices to teach Industry Standard IT refurbishment training to adults who are unemployed or out of education and young people aged 16-25 with an Education, Health Care Plan.

Training Programmes

To support our goal of being a stepping stone into employment, we have developed two entry pathways for our IT Refurbishment programme.

12-Week Work Experience Programme:

Offered through community and voluntary sector organizations.

Provides hands-on experience refurbishing desktops, laptops, smartphones, and tablets.

Covers skills like data wiping, hard drive destruction, OS installation, disk partitioning, and component replacement (e.g., RAM, hard drives).

50-Hour IT Refurbishment Programme:

For trainees identified as candidates for entry-level IT careers.

Accredited as a Tech 10 course by the British Computer Society.

Developed with employment and education specialists to build technical and workplace skills.

Graduates may access opportunities via Corporate Donor’s EDI policies.

Device Donation Scheme

According to the UK National Delivery Plan 2023, 7% of UK adults (approximately 3.84 million people) don't’ have access to a laptop, smartphone or tablet. 2econd Chance’s Device Donation Scheme enables our referral partners across London to refer digitally excluded individuals to receive a free device. Thanks to funding in 2023, we were delighted to donate over 300 devices to support people in need.
