Simple Digital Technologies PD Day

June 1, 2022

The focus of the Simple Digital Technologies PD Day is on integrating digital technologies across the F-6 curriculum. This includes collaboration, communication, and creativity within a safe environment, appropriate for primary-aged students. Key concepts of differentiation and the management of groups are explored and overcoming some of the classroom challenges, keeping planning and implementation simple.

Teachers attend to:

  • spend the day with like-minded educators, hear real classroom experiences and be inspired to cultivate curiosity and creativity with collaborative, engaging, cloud-based digital technology solutions mapped to the curriculum.
  • explore best practice when integrating digital technologies across all primary levels, e.g. data, publishing, digital solutions, art, coding...

Marnie Power - STEM teacher and Digital Technology, St John's School, Heidelberg

  • Would you recommend this session to others? Definitely, I have been using Purple Mash for four years and still came away from this PD with new ideas for lessons and new knowledge about collaborative tools and display boards to enable us to share our work with parents. I can't wait to put these new tools into action in my classroom.
  • How would you rate it overall? The PD was really professional, it was the perfect amount of listening and doing, being able to sign in as both teachers and students gave us real insight. I enjoyed the networking opportunities with fellow attendees and hearing the roadblocks and successes in their school environment.
  • What was the best thing about the session? It was the first face-to-face PD I have been to in 3 years, I got a buzz out of sharing lesson ideas and tools with other teachers and have a new excitement about next term's program, which has written itself based on this day. I liked how when asked 'Can Purple Mash do this....?' the instructors asked 'what do you want it to do?' and a solution was found to target the classroom need.
  • This session could be improved by... I would love to watch a video of teachers talking about specific lessons where they have used Purple Mash as a bit of an intro. I also wish it was a two-day PD, with one day focussing on the teacher's point of view and the next day on the students' point of view. Many thanks for letting me be a part of the planning and the day itself. I was really energised by it all and learned a lot.
